Dear Hormel,
Hello there! I felt the need to write to you after a fellow bacon lover sent me some pictures of one of your bacon products.

Well done! Good job harnessing the power of bacon into a convenient bag for porky-oinky goodness on the go. HOWEVER, I do draw issue with your product with the warning on the back of the bag:

Really? “DO NOT EAT PACKET”? What lawyer made you put that warning on there? Was it the same genius who told you to put in the ingredients that bacon is “gluten free”? (That’s like saying there’s no cholesterol in a tomato. Duh!)

A truly delicious, gourmet barbecue sauce is about as American as Baseball, Apple Pie and Chevrolet, but it’s from our good neighbors to the north, the fine scholars and medical researchers of a new study coming out of The University of Western Ontario, who’s research results are spreading almost as quickly as this springs barbecue sauce.
As it turns out, the results of the University study show some previously unforeseen health benefits to be found in premium quality, gourmet barbecue sauce.
The latest fact finding research, which was led by Western’s biology and psychology postdoctoral fellow Raymond Thomas and co-authored by Mark Bernards and Christopher Guglielmo, of Western’s department of biology, clearly shows that many of the higher quality, natural, gourmet barbecue sauces, marinades and salsas are a lot more than merely temptingly tasty fine food flavor enhancers, but actually extremely healthy and powerful sources natural antioxidants.

Once viewed as just another tasty junk food made available at the movies, Doctors and Nutritionists alike are coming out of the wood work to promote the wonderful health benefits of “Gourmet Popcorn”.
The truth of the matter is, pop corn has always been great for you, but unfortunately, over the years it has gotten an unfairly “bad rap” because of the low quality kernels often popped up and then overly salted after being doused, drenched and drowned in the greasiest, slimiest chemical concoction of artificial butter-like substances ever known to man, at so many theatres, drive-inns and fast food places, not to mention several of the cheaper, pre-packed store bought “stove top” and “microwave oven” versions of the popular “POP” product.

Apparently, both the alcohol content itself, as well as the naturally occurring “phyto-chemicals” or organic plant compounds, found in wine, have been clinically proven to reduce the risk of various forms of heart disease and cancer, as well as effectively slow the progression of numerous neurological and degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.

If you grew up anything like me, you absolute LOVE eating Bacon and watching the Star Wars. I’m talking the awesome, original trilogy of the film, back in the days when #4 came before #1, and after #7, unless #7 got cancelled due to lack of interest.
You remember … Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Sir Alec Guinness, Peter Cushing and the hauntingly mesmerizing, if not a bit breathy voice of James Earl Jones. None of that Jar Jar Binks or that irritating flying shop owner who greedily runs the local junk yard.
Meanwhile, bacon was the official way to start off each and every weekend of a lifetime, or at least, a perfect childhood. Who could resist waking up with a smile on your face and skip in your step, when your first conscious moment of the weekend is waking up to the alluring aroma of bacon cooking in the kitchen, perfectly setting the tone and mood “for the rest of the day”… and only to discover year later, “for the rest of my life.”
